Mission Statement

The mission of the Lamar Parks & Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Lamar and guests by offering quality recreation and leisure opportunities, facilities, open space and related services.

Heat Index

If the heat index reaches above 105°, the Parks & Recreation may cancel certain youth programs prior to 7:00 p.m. due to safety concerns.

Photo Policy

On occasion, our staff may photograph participants in park programs, sporting events, or at special activities. These photos are for our use only and may be used in publications, brochures, flyers or video productions.

Waiver Required

All participants in Lamar Parks & Recreation programs will be required to sign a waiver. By registering to participate in these recreation programs, each participant realizes the inherent risks involved and understands the nature of these risks. The applicant agrees to hold the City of Lamar harmless for any injury caused by participating in these programs.

Volunteers & Sponsors Sought

If you would like to volunteer or have your business sponsor any recreation program, please call the LPR office at 682-5851.

Special Recreation Needs

The City of Lamar strives to make recreation programs accessible to everyone. If you have a special need in order to participate in a program, please inform the office at the time of registration or call 682-5851 in advance of the program. Every effort will be made to adapt the program to incorporate your individual need.

Acceptance of Participation

Rules of acceptance and participation in the following programs are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, or abilities.

Inclement Weather

Parents must arrange for their children to be picked up as soon as possible when threatening weather develops. Decisions on weekday league games will be made at 4:00 p.m., and Saturday league games at 8:00 a.m. Call the LPR office at 682-5851 for cancellation information.
